“Providing dental services to low-income patients”
The Community Dental Clinic was established in 1989 when
a community needs survey indicated that dental care was
the biggest barrier facing low-income families in
Crawford and Sebastian Counties. Concerned dentists,
with borrowed and donated equipment, performed
extractions one evening a month in a room at a local
church. From that small beginning, the clinic has grown
to its present fully staffed, full-time operation.
The clinic:
- Provides basic dental care to
low-income families residing in Crawford and
Sebastian counties.
- Staffs dentists who volunteer
their services to provide fillings, extractions, and
a limited number of dentures.
- Offers the “Tooth Fairy” program
that provides age-appropriate presentations and
educational materials aimed at improving the oral
health of children.
- Refers patients who wish to stop
using tobacco products to smoking cessation classes.
